This afternoon, Year 2 used the surfaces to research about heraldry. We found out that when knights would wear their full suit of armour, they couldn’t recognise each other so a coat of arms was created. Knights would choose what colours they wanted their ‘coat of arms’ to be with each colour representing something different. They also included an animal and patterns which had different meanings. After we completed our research, we created a mind map as a class to share our findings. Finally, we discussed what colours, animals and patterns we would like to include on our own shield.
We are really looking forward to designing and creating our own coat of arms!
